PPA's Free Parenting Workshop Series continues this week. The topic for this week's groups is "Creating Successful Homework & Organizational Skills." This workshop will be held in the Aventura office on Wednesday, 10/24/12, the Davie office on Thursday 10/25/12, the Coral Springs office on Tuesday 10/30/12, and the Coral Gables office on Tuesday 11/6/12. Drs. Samantha Carella and Lauren Grodin will be speaking to the teachers and staff at Miami Shores Presbyterian School on Wednesday, October 10, 2012. The topic will be Improving Teacher-Student Relationships through Communication and Collaboration.

October 12th and 19th, 2012: Internet Safety, David Lawrence, Jr. K-8 Center

Dr. Lauren Grodin will be speaking at David Lawrence, Jr. K-8 Center on Friday, October 12th and Friday October 19th. She will be addressing Middle School students about Internet Safety. It should be a great talk!

Deborah Lehman retires.

We are sad to say that Deborah Lehman has officially retired from PPA!  Debbie was an amazing psychologist who worked with many families over the years.  She is currently enjoying an extended vacation in Europe post-retirement.  Attached is a picture of our farewell luncheon. We at PPA wish Debbie the best in all of her future endeavors!

PPA's Dr. Laura Grashow-Rywell will be offering a FREE presentation on ways to teach your child the importance of empathy. Inaugural Surf and Water Sports Summer Camp

Pediatric Psychology Associates' inaugural Surf and Water Sports Summer camp will be starting soon! The camp will run the week of August 13-17 and will include fundamental surfing lessons, water sports, and daily social skills training in a fun environment. Pediatric Psychology Associates is happy to announce two recently added sessions to our Sunrise Academy Sports and Inclusion Summer camp! This is a great, active camp that includes fun activities like martial arts, yoga, and arts & crafts while adding an element of Social Skills training. PPA Exhibits at Florida Psychological Association's Annual Conference

Congratulations to Drs. Judith Migoya and Samantha Carella for representing Pediatric Psychology Associates as exhibitors at the Florida Psychological Association's Annual Conference in Tampa last weekend! Drs. Migoya and Carella presented on the new DSM-V updates, specifically the changes to the diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorders. They also discussed new and innovative programs in Child Psychology, including Pediatric Psychology Associates’ own Multidisciplinary Developmental Clinic. 

PPA Invited As Guests on the Autism Channel Pilot

Pediatric Psychology Associates is excited about a new TV Autism Channel that may be coming to South Florida. Dr. Judith Migoya and Christina Sullivan, LCSW were guests on Dr. Judith Aronson-Ramos' show, "Dr. Judy," in the pilot. The pilot will be showcased at the summer conference for the Autism Society in San Diego, CA. More information to come!

Workshops For Parents Of Children With Social And Behavioral Challenges

Pediatric Psychology Associates is offering Parenting Workshops for parents of children and adolescents with Social and Behavioral Challenges. The workshops will be on June 26th for parents of preschool and elementary school kids and June 28th for parents of middle and high school kids. This is a great way to get some tips on how to manage these difficulties! Please contact the office if you're interested.

For our Spanish speaking friends, Dr. Susan Acosta will be interviewed tonight on Univision's Primer Impacto at 5:00pm. Dr. Acosta will be discussing Beauty Pageants and the impact they have on the participants in them, it should be a very interesting interview.

Pediatric Psychology Associates is proud to announce that three of our team members will be presenting at the 19th Annual Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (CARD) Conference in Orlando, FL this weekend! 

Dr. Nick Maccarrone and Dr. Susan Acosta will be leading a presentation titled "The Role of Psychologists in Transition to Adulthood for Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders."

Dr. Judith Migoya will be speaking along with Allison Hertog, MS, Esq. in a presentation titled "Fulfilling Your ASD Child's needs: Navigating the Maze of Evaluations, Services, and Legal Advocacy."

Two New Teen Groups Starting

Pediatric Psychology Associates is excited to inform Families and Colleagues of 2 new groups that will be starting in January 2012: Girls Tween Group- Ages 12 to 14, and Girls Teen Group- Ages 14 to 17. Tween/Teen Groups goal is to provide a well-structured and safe environment where members can discuss issues related to: peer pressure/socialization, school related stressors, effective coping skills, family issues, appropriate vs. inappropriate behaviors, better decision making/problem solving, and other topics as requested by group member.
