What is "Mindfulness in the Classroom"?

Mindfulness Meditation has been a well-known practice for years, but in the recent past has become a growing area of interest within the neurosciences, also becoming more widely used within schools in an effort to help children improve attention, self-awareness and self-control, pro-social behaviors/attitudes and overall mental health. This presentation provides an overview of the theory, scientific support and practical applications of Mindfulness-Based classroom interventions. Core elements of school-based mindfulness programs will be identified and participants will learn hands-on mindfulness-based activities that can be used to effectively teach mindfulness concepts and applications to students within the classroom setting.
